Saying yes to God all the time - Reflection on Today's Sermon
Last night, I shared about my struggle as a Christian working in a call center and my struggle with my relationship with God for the talk about what it means to be a Christian. I thought I could have done better.
Then listening to the sermon in today's mass, I knew God wanted me to share this. I remembered during the Covenant Orientation for Singles for Christ, there was an idle moment so our chapter leader went in front and asked for sharers. I was seated then at the back because my fellow household leader and I were playing with the speaker's 3 or 4-year old daughter. Since he was still asking for sharers, we asked the little girl if she wanted to share. She said, "Okay" at the same time raised her right hand and then went in front.
Looking back, I was somehow humbled with what the little girl showed. She did not know what's going on or what's in it for her but she said yes. I realized that being a Christian is saying yes to God all the time. I admit that I have a hard time doing that because I don't like losing control over things. I am quite lucky because even though there were times that I said no to him (for service, personal concerns), He still opens up opportunities for me so I can follow what He wanted to happen.
God wants the best for all of us. All we have to do is trust Him and that means saying yes to what He wanted even though it's going to be hard for us and we do not know how things will turn out. Lately, I have been practicing that because I see His faithfulness not only to me but to the people around me as well. I cannot describe the kind peace of saying yes to Him brought to my life but I pray that it will come to you as well.
